Who we are
Le Château du Creuset serves as a captivating historical landmark that offers a unique perspective on royal life. Once a Relais de Chasse in the 14th century, this magnificent estate has seen many transformations over the centuries, particularly during the tenure of notable figures. Among them was King Louis XVI, who is known to have enjoyed Le Creuset as a royal vacation home. His connection to this exquisite location adds an air of regality and prestige, highlighting its significance in the tapestry of French history.
The château underwent significant renovations in the 19th century under M. de Commeau, who elevated it into a grand castle adorned with distinct north and south towers, further enhancing its majestic appeal. The Bonnichon family, stewards of the estate from 1860 to 1984, witnessed the chateau's occupation by the SS during World War II, yet their dedication to post-war restoration preserved its historical essence.
In the following years, the Gremli family modernized the estate, and the Zuidema family briefly transformed it into a hotel, showcasing its versatility as a place of leisure and hospitality. After a period of neglect, the Mitrovic family took on the crucial task of restoration in 2017, ensuring that the chateau remained a testament to its glorious past. Most recently, in 2024, the Letko-Parent family acquired this enchanting property, choosing to make it their private family residence.
Coming in 2026, Le Château du Creuset will welcome weddings, retreats and private self catered rental offerings. For bookings in 2026, please contact us to save your dates.
We look forward to hearing from you!
